UUACO also delivers a diverse range of programs designed to meet the real needs of Ugandans and friends of Uganda across Colorado, ensuring that most Colorado Ugandans are not only connected socially but also equipped to thrive.



2026 Events and Programs Calendar
January 31 – Kampala Night: Kampala Night is a vibrant evening of Ugandan music, dance, and laid-back entertainment that brings Ugandans and friends of Uganda together to connect and unwind. Held on the last Saturday of the month and every three months, this recurring social night creates a warm, relaxed space to enjoy great sounds, share laughter, and build meaningful community bonds. From the dance floor to casual conversations, Kampala Night sets the tone for cultural pride, friendship, and fun, offering a welcoming atmosphere for both regulars and first-time guests.
March 8 – Colorado Ugandans Women’s Day Celebrations: A special celebration honoring the achievements, leadership, and impact of Ugandan women in Colorado, this event shines a spotlight on their voices, stories, and service. It brings together community members and allies for an event of inspiration, connection, and gratitude. UUACO is proud to stand alongside the organizers in support of this important gathering, reflecting our shared commitment to uplifting women’s contributions. Through uplifting remarks, meaningful networking, and community recognition, guests leave encouraged, empowered, and more deeply connected to one another.
March 21 – Kickback 2026: A relaxed social “kickback” for youth, young adults, and the wider community to hang out, connect, and have fun in an easygoing setting. This gathering offers a low-pressure space to unwind, meet new people, and deepen existing friendships. With light activities, conversation, and plenty of laughter, it creates an informal, welcoming atmosphere where everyone (mainly Colorado Ugandan Youths) can feel at home and included in our society.
April 18 – Ekimeeza / Community Town Hall Virtual Meeting: An open community forum and virtual town hall where Ugandans in Colorado and friends of the community come together to discuss key issues, share ideas, and shape priorities for 2026 and beyond. Held every three months, this gathering provides a structured yet welcoming space to raise concerns, propose solutions, and hear diverse perspectives. Participants will collaborate on practical next steps, strengthen transparency and accountability, and agree on a shared way forward for the community in the year ahead.
May 16 – Colorado Ugandans Men’s Day: A dedicated day to celebrate Ugandan men in Colorado, honoring their roles in family life, community building, and leadership. This gathering creates space to uplift their contributions, share experiences, and reflect on challenges and opportunities. Through dialogue, encouragement, and collective support, participants strengthen connections, inspire one another, and affirm the vital role of men in the wellbeing of the community.
May 23 – Annual Colorado Ugandans Memorial Weekend Get‑Together: A Memorial Weekend gathering centered on remembrance, reflection, and togetherness, bringing families and friends together to honor loved ones and strengthen community bonds. Ugandans in Colorado observe this day in a shared community setting, creating space for stories, prayer, and quiet reflection. Through moments of silence, shared memories, and time spent with one another, the gathering offers comfort, healing, and a renewed sense of unity.
June 13 – Career Panel: An informative, interactive session where established professionals share real-life experiences, practical guidance, and actionable tips on careers, education, and navigating the job market in Colorado and across the U.S. Designed for students, job seekers, and those considering a career change, the event covers topics like choosing pathways, tailoring resumes, interviewing confidently, and understanding local workplace culture and expectations. Participants gain insight into useful resources, networks, and support systems, leaving better equipped to plan next steps and advance their professional journeys
June 20 – Annual Youth Pool Party Celebrations: A fun, youth‑centered pool party designed to give children and young people a safe, supervised space to splash, play, and enjoy the start of summer together. The gathering creates an easygoing atmosphere where participants (mainly youths) can relax, make new friends, and deepen existing friendships. With music, light refreshments, and simple games, it offers a joyful break from routine while keeping safety, inclusion, and community at the heart of the experience.
June 27 – Annual Community Service Day: A day dedicated to giving back through hands-on volunteer projects and service activities that uplift the wider Colorado community. This initiative showcases the heart, generosity, and impact of the Ugandan community as they serve alongside neighbors and local partners. Participants engage in meaningful work—from neighborhood clean-ups to supporting local charities—while building relationships and visibility. Together, they demonstrate shared responsibility, strengthen community ties, and leave a positive, lasting mark on Colorado.
August 8 – Annual Summer Picnic: A family‑friendly summer picnic featuring Ugandan food, games, music, and live entertainment, all in a relaxed outdoor setting for every age. Families, friends, and neighbors can enjoy delicious dishes, kids’ activities, and plenty of space to play, talk, and unwind. The picnic is especially welcoming for newcomers, offering an easy way to mix, mingle, and get to know the community while soaking up the summer atmosphere.
October 10 – Annual Independence Gala & Party: This annual Independence Gala and Party stands as a flagship cultural and social celebration of Uganda’s Independence in Colorado. The evening features vibrant music, energetic dance, stunning fashion, and inspiring speeches that honor Uganda’s rich heritage and story. Guests come together dressed in their best, enjoying performances, networking, and shared memories that highlight unity and community pride. The gala creates a festive atmosphere where Ugandans and friends of Uganda can celebrate identity, resilience, and a bright future together.
November 21 – Annual Youth Friendsgiving: The Annual Youth Friendsgiving gathering brings together young Colorado Ugandans and their friends to share food, stories, and gratitude during the Thanksgiving season. Centered on friendship, support, and belonging, it offers a warm space to reflect on the year, celebrate wins, and encourage one another. Through shared meals, light activities, and honest conversation, participants deepen connections and build a stronger sense of community and mutual care.
December 5 – Annual Kids & Adults Xmas Party: A joyful and festive Christmas party for children and adults, bringing families together to celebrate the holiday season. Families come with their children and relatives to enjoy delicious food, fun games, gifts, and plenty of laughter. The gathering creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere where traditions are shared, memories are made, and everyone—young and old—can relax and celebrate together.
December 13 – Xmas Thanksgiving: A community thanksgiving celebration in the Christmas season where Ugandans come together to reflect on the year, give thanks, and honor God’s faithfulness. Organized by Ugandan religious churches, the gathering creates a prayerful, joyful space to worship, share testimonies, and appreciate members’ efforts and blessings. Through music, Scripture, messages of encouragement, and moments of recognition, participants strengthen spiritual fellowship and deepen their sense of unity and gratitude as a community.
December 20 – Xmas Bonanza: A festive Christmas bonanza filled with joy, entertainment, and interactive activities, offering the community one more chance to gather and celebrate before the year ends. Organized by Ugandan religious churches, this end‑of‑year celebration blends music, performances, games, and fellowship in a lively, faith‑centered atmosphere. Families and friends come together to enjoy uplifting moments, share laughter, and close out the year with gratitude, unity, and renewed hope for the season ahead.
December 31 – New Year’s Eve Prayer Night: A prayer and worship night dedicated to closing the year and ushering in the new one together in God’s presence. Organized by Ugandan religious churches, this gathering brings families and the wider community together to thank God for the past year and seek His guidance and blessing for the days ahead. Through united worship, Scripture, and focused prayer, participants commit the new year to God, strengthen their faith, and deepen spiritual and relational bonds as a community.

In addition to the events and programs on the calendar, UUACO also organizes special initiatives, emergency responses, and ad‑hoc community gatherings.
Cultural and Social Programs
UUACO partners with other Colorado Ugandan businesses and organizations that organize ad-hoc gatherings and events where members reconnect with other individuals from any part of the world. These include fashion shows and cultural nights, family-organized holiday celebrations, and special gatherings that help families, especially children and youth, experience Ugandan culture while building friendships and a sense of belonging.
Community Support and Integration
Through informal networks and structured activities, UUACO helps newcomers and families navigate life in Colorado—providing resouces and sharing information on housing, work, immigration processes, and local services through themed-events. Members also support each other in times of need, emergency and sorrow (loss of loved ones) while creating a practical safety net grounded in community solidarity.
Education, Careers, and Youth Development
The association promotes education and skills development through themed-events and activities. Our themed-programs encourage young people to pursue studies, professional training, and leadership roles, while giving adults opportunities to share expertise, guidance, and role‑modeling.
Civic Engagement and Partnerships
UUACO encourages participation in broader community life—volunteering, civic awareness, and collaboration with other organizations and local institutions. By partnering with like‑minded groups and authorities, UUACO expands access to resources, raises the profile of Ugandans in Colorado, and creates avenues for advocacy and joint projects.
Faith, Reflection, and Community Wellness Programs
UUACO partners with faith-based and religious organisations of different denominations to organize church sermons, prayer gatherings/events, relgious celebrations and moments of collective reflection complement social programming. These programs strengthen our spiritual life, emotional support, and community cohesion while helping members to look at the future with shared hope and purpose.
Community & Service Impact Awards
Colorado Ugandans Service & Impact (CUSI) Awards recognize and celebrate Ugandans in Colorado—and Colorado‑based organizations—whose exemplary service is transforming lives both locally and in Uganda. The awards highlight outstanding contributions in at least five key areas: education and skills development, health and wellness, economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, community organizing and social justice, and cultural preservation and exchange.
