Membership

UUACO has two classes of members, Associate Members and Voting Members. Associate Members are Ugandans by birth, heritage or ancestry, naturalization, and or spouses of Ugandans living in Colorado who are registered as members but have not paid the annual subscription fee, and therefore do not have full access to all benefits and privileges of UUACO. Voting Members are Ugandans by birth, heritage or ancestry, naturalization, and or spouses of Ugandans living in Colorado who are registered members and are current on their annual subscription fee, and they enjoy full benefits and privileges.

UUACO Membership Levels

At UUACO, the membership comprises two distinct classes of membership: Associate Members and Voting Members. This structure is designed to encourage broad participation while maintaining clear guidelines for full membership privileges and responsibilities.

Associate Membership shall be open to individuals of Ugandan origin or affiliation, including those by birth, heritage or ancestry, naturalization, as well as spouses of Ugandans, who reside within the State of Colorado. Individuals in this category are recognized as registered members of the Association; however, they have not fulfilled the requirement of paying the annual subscription fee.

As a result, Associate Members may participate in community activities and remain connected to the Association, but they do not enjoy full access to all benefits, rights, and privileges reserved for Voting Members. These limitations may include, but are not limited to, the inability to vote in official Association matters, hold elective office, or access certain member-exclusive programs and services.

This membership tier provides an inclusive pathway for engagement, while also encouraging members to transition into full Voting Membership in order to actively contribute to the governance, decision-making, and long-term growth of the Association.

Benefits and Privileges of Voting Members include, but not be limited to, receiving support from UUACO for member-specific events, participating in Association-organized events at no cost, accessing discounted services, products, and other organized programs of the Association, accessing services and products offered through strategic alliance partners, participating in activities exclusively reserved for Voting Members, bidding to provide paid services to the Association, exercising the right to vote on all matters of the Association including general elections, contesting for leadership positions within the Association, and being eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

Benefits and Privileges of Associate Members shall include participation in the free, organized events of the Association, and access to free, services and products provided by the Association, as may be determined by the Board and Leadership Team from time to time, including but not limited to educational, cultural, and community development programs, capacity-building initiatives, informational resources, and other support activities that advance the objectives of the Association and promote active engagement, collaboration, and mutual support among members, partners, and the wider community, in alignment with the Association’s mission and strategic priorities.

The UUACO President and other elected Officers shall develop, keep up to date, and publicize a written criteria and process for becoming a member of UUACO. The membership ofUUACO shall be open to all Ugandans by birth, heritage or ancestry, naturalization, and or a spouse of a Ugandan and members must be 18 years of age or older, must be residents of Colorado State or were once members of the Colorado Ugandan Community and relocated plus must be willing to volunteer and serve the community. The children of a registered member who are under 18 years shall have no voting rights and membership registration is open ended, however, before and during general elections, the President and other elected Officers will set a deadline for member registration to ensure reliability and credibility for the voters’ register. Any individual who is found to be leading, participating in, supporting or operating a separate, independent and competing/parallel organization or a 501(c)(3) organization, community body or association within the state of Colorado and with a competing vision, mission, values and objectives as UUACO, will not be eligible for any type of membership (whether it is Paid Up or Associate Membership) as per the UUACO Bylaws.

Gold Event Supporters receive all Silver benefits plus premium recognition, including prominent logo placement on event backdrops and programs, verbal acknowledgment as key partners during opening or closing remarks, optional table or booth space where applicable, and opportunities to be highlighted in feature stories that showcase their support for UUACO’s mission and community impact.
