Our Objectives

At UUACO, our objectives are strategic. We are keen at driving results through purpose and turning vision into measurable impact. We are stronger together through shared our vision while reimagining the future, today.

What UUACO Strives to Achieve

Building a Strong, United Ugandan Network in Colorado

Objective #1 is to unite and build a strong social network of all Ugandans living in the State of Colorado. We pursue this by organizing annual community events and gatherings, including Uganda Independence Day celebrations, cultural festivals, USA Independence Day activities, summer picnics, Christmas celebrations, networking and community service opportunities, and other major public events and holidays. These regular touchpoints help members connect, support one another, and strengthen a vibrant, visible Ugandan presence across Colorado.

Supporting Ugandan Immigrants to Settle and Thrive

Objective #2 is to promote, advocate for, and support Ugandan immigrants living in Colorado as they learn how to navigate life in the United States. This includes understanding and processing immigration documents and work permits where needed, finding employment, securing housing and transportation, and accessing basic services. As resources allow, new members will be connected to mentorship, coaching, and referrals for legal, advocacy, and immigration-related support, helping them learn how to live, work, and pursue their dreams in the US with confidence and dignity.

Preserving and Promoting Ugandan Culture and Traditions

Objective #3 is to preserve and promote Ugandan culture and traditions among Ugandans in Colorado and the wider community. We do this by showcasing our languages, music, dance, food, dress, and customs through events, storytelling, and intergenerational activities. These efforts help children and youth stay connected to their roots, foster cultural pride, and ensure that Ugandan heritage remains visible, respected, and celebrated in Colorado.

Promoting Education, Skills, and Lifelong Learning

Objective #4 is to provide education, training, and encouragement for Ugandans in Colorado—especially youth—to pursue learning and professional development that prepare them for the 21st‑century marketplace. This includes academic pathways, vocational and livelihood skills, financial literacy, housing and investment, language and communication programs, legal awareness, and health, wellness, and insurance education. Through these opportunities, members gain practical knowledge, confidence, and tools to succeed, support their families, and contribute meaningfully to the community.

Encouraging Active Citizenship and Community Responsibility

Objective #5 is to encourage Ugandans living in Colorado to fulfill their responsibilities as Ugandan–American citizens and Permanent Residents. This includes participating in civic life through voting, community service, and public engagement; promoting cultural awareness and education; building wealth and economic stability; and, where applicable, serving in the military or other public roles. By embracing these duties, community members strengthen both their host country and their Ugandan diaspora community.

Celebrating Our Community and Strengthening Strategic Partnerships

Objective #6 is to focus on celebrating our community and building strong partnerships. We recognize and honor members’ achievements and milestones—such as weddings, graduations, newborns, business start‑ups, innovations, and sports victories—to uplift families, inspire others, and strengthen pride and solidarity. At the same time, we develop strategic alliances and networks within Colorado, across the USA, and beyond to mobilize resources, support members, and advance UUACO’s mission, vision, and objectives.
