2026 Events Calendar – United Ugandans Association of Colorado (UUACO)

January 31 – Kampala Night: A lively night of music and entertainment bringing Ugandans and friends together to enjoy music, dance, and social connection in a relaxed setting. Kampala Night sets the tone for the year with community bonding and fun.

March 8 – Colorado Ugandans Women’s Day Celebrations: A special celebration honoring the achievements, leadership, and contributions of Ugandan women in Colorado. The event features inspiration, networking, and community recognition.

March 21 – Kickback 2026: A casual social “kickback” for youth, young adults, and the wider community to connect, unwind, and build relationships in an informal, welcoming atmosphere.

April 18 – Ekimeeza / Community Town Hall Virtual Meeting: An open community forum and town hall, held virtually, to discuss key issues, share ideas, and agree on the way forward for the community in 2026.

May 16 – Colorado Ugandans Men’s Day: A day dedicated to celebrating Ugandan men in Colorado, highlighting their roles in family, community, and leadership, and creating space for dialogue and support.

May 23 – Annual Colorado Ugandans Memorial Weekend Get‑Together: A Memorial Weekend gathering for remembrance, reflection, and togetherness, bringing families and friends together to honor loved ones and strengthen community bonds.

June 13 – Career Panel: An informative session where professionals share experiences, guidance, and tips on careers, education, and navigating the job market in Colorado and the U.S.

June 20 – Annual Youth Pool Party Celebrations: A fun, youth‑centered pool party that gives children and young people a safe space to relax, make friends, and celebrate the start of summer.

June 27 – Annual Community Service Day: A day set aside for giving back through volunteer projects and service activities that benefit the wider Colorado community and demonstrate Ugandan community impact.

August 8 – Annual Summer Picnic: A family‑friendly summer picnic featuring food, games, music, and outdoor fun, offering a relaxed environment for all ages to connect and enjoy the season.

October 10 – Annual Independence Gala and Party Celebrations: A flagship cultural and social event marking Uganda’s Independence, with music, dance, fashion, and speeches that celebrate heritage, unity, and community pride.

November 21 – Annual Youth Friends Giving: A youth‑focused “Friendsgiving” gathering that builds friendship, gratitude, and support among young Ugandans and their friends during the Thanksgiving season.

December 5 – Annual Kids & Adults Xmas Party: A joyful Christmas party for children and adults, featuring food, games, gifts, and celebrations that bring families together for the holiday season.

December 13 – Xmas Thanksgiving: A community thanksgiving event in the Christmas season to reflect on the year, give thanks, and appreciate members’ efforts and blessings.

December 20 – Xmas Bonanza: A festive Christmas bonanza with entertainment and activities, offering one more opportunity for the community to gather and celebrate before year’s end.

December 31 – New Year’s Eve Prayer Night: A prayer and worship night to close the year and usher in the new one together, seeking God’s guidance and blessing for families and the community.

Cultural and social programs

UUACO organizes year‑round events where members reconnect with Ugandan music, food, dance, and traditions. These include cultural nights, picnics, holiday celebrations, and special gatherings that help families, especially children and youth, experience Ugandan heritage while building friendships and a sense of belonging.

Community support and integration

Through informal networks and structured activities, UUACO helps newcomers and families navigate life in Colorado—sharing information on housing, work, immigration processes, and local services. Members also support each other in times of need, creating a practical safety net grounded in community solidarity.

Education, careers, and youth development

The association promotes education and skills development through activities such as career panels, mentorship, and youth‑centered events. Programs encourage young people to pursue studies, professional training, and leadership roles, while giving adults opportunities to share expertise, guidance, and role‑modeling.

Civic engagement and partnerships

UUACO encourages participation in broader community life—volunteering, civic awareness, and collaboration with other organizations and local institutions. By partnering with like‑minded groups and authorities, UUACO expands access to resources, raises the profile of Ugandans in Colorado, and creates avenues for advocacy and joint projects.

Faith, reflection, and community wellness

End‑of‑year prayer gatherings and moments of collective reflection complement social and cultural programming. These spaces strengthen spiritual life, emotional support, and community cohesion, helping members close the year together and look ahead with shared hope and purpose.

Community & Service Impact Awards

Colorado Ugandans Service & Impact (CUSI) Awards recognize and celebrate Ugandans in Colorado—and Colorado‑based organizations—whose exemplary service is transforming lives both locally and in Uganda. The awards highlight outstanding contributions in at least five key areas: education and skills development, health and wellness, economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, community organizing and social justice, and cultural preservation and exchange.
